At the moment what I had to "accommodate" to my previous ideas regarding this topic, is the fact that not only an expertise is in charge of the school counselling guidance. Rather, many people are involved, such as parents (which I see as very normal) and mainly tutors or teachers.
I have to assume that not all problems with students will be solved, commitment is needed with families and not always happens.
A counselor would do as much as he can but sometimes problems remain unsolved. Nevertheless I think that it is in those cases where support and guidance are more needed by the student.
Regarding laws, in Spain, we have to pay higher attention to the fact that the LOE leaves the responsability of the guidance development to the educational authorities, this is, to the Autonomous Communities. As Education in Spain is highly politized, we could easily think that the organization of the counselling and guidance services may be different from one place to another within the Spanish territory.
Today I confirmed my idea that you have to belief on what you defend. Collaborative work and learning MUST be one of such believes to be defended. As a way of living always, but also when thinking about attending to diversity, it appears to me to be a great method to involve regular students in the inclusion of not so regular ones. Of course, support measures applied by profesionals must be the main pilar but when talking about children, relationship between peers may have a great impact in their learning attitudes as well as in educating them in a wider conception, in being a person in all its sense.
