Assessment of other groups' Collaborative Activities

Assessment of other groups’ activities

First group to present their activity was the one formed by Pablo, Raúl, Ruth and Daniel Jarque.  Their topic was: Separate Special Education needs provision in Early Childhood and School Education.
I think that their activity made all of us participate and get a bit of knowledge regarding their topic.  We had to read and write questions and answers which made us pay more attention and aware of the subject to be learned.
I find one negative point though, which is assessment. As teachers I do not think that they were able to tell who knows what, or even the level of learning that the students reached.
As a suggestion I’d say that may be at the end as a summary or at the beginning as an introduction, at some point, an explanation of what the topic was about could had be given.  Since there was not an explanation at all, learning relayed on what each one could get out of the activity.

The group composed by Ana, Andrea González, Belén and Daniel Muñoz, were in charge of the Special Education Needs provision within Mainstream Education topic.
I find their activity very participative; it was good as a ‘warming up’ activity.  The problem is that it was a main activity to teach the contents of the topic, and learning was not felt as the main aim.  I liked the idea of reading these contents at the end, although it would have been better if it had been done at the beginning instead.
I would suggest giving first an explanation of the topic (as they did at the end) and then use the activity as for them to have some assessment on the learning process.

Raquel, Blanca and Elena presented their topic, Support measures for learners in Early Childhood and School Education, in a very original way.  They made us to defend an institution’s point of view.  I liked very much working in smalls groups, since it improves participation of all the members, making the cooperative work more evident.  I also liked very much the fact of living and understanding real situations, it moved our empathetic feelings. The topic was well proposed because after the activity they explained the actual measures that exist.
The only thing I would include would be some kind of assessment to check if students really learned about the topic and to what extent.

Athina, Azahara, Gemma, Almudena Bellot and María also developed an activity to explain the Support measures for learners in Early Childhood and School Education topic.  I especially liked the way they had done their activity. They started explaining the theory through a power point presentation, which allows you to know what it was going to be talked about. Then, they have divided the class in small groups promoting the cooperative work, to start with the activity. I want to highlight the fact that they controlled, helped and invited everyone in the class to participate on the activity. As for the activity itself, there was a great deal of feedback from other groups, each group having the opportunity to expose and defend their opinions. The activity was great since it finished with a debate, a way of gathering all the ideas together. Finally, as for the assessment, they did it through individual post-it and by direct observation.  I really liked it; it was very complete in my opinion.

Andrea Cerezo, Chusa, Leticia and Ariadna exposed the Separate Special Education needs provision in Early Childhood and School Education topic.  Despite at the beginning it was a bit messy, with not giving an organized explanation the development of the activity was really well done. Each group had help out of one person of the exposing group. The activity was very dynamic and promoted participation. Motivation was set when offering sweets as a reward for correct answers given.  They made us think, share, cooperate, make mind maps on readings and expose our chunk to other groups. The way the evaluated us was through the quiz they have carried out.  In my opinion it was a really useful activity.
